NB: To use the plugin you need first to download and install both Eclipse and Jason, and you must have run Jason at least once using its normal jEdit-based version.

  • Creating a new Jason project:
  1. Choose menu option "File -> New -> Other…";
  2. Select the Jason Project wizard in the Jason Plugin folder;
  3. Input the project name, the name of the Java class implementing the environment (if there is one), and choose the distribution infrastructure that you want to use in this project; when you input the Java class name for the environment, you can add also package names, for example "package.ClassName";
  4. A new project is then created! The plugin creates the 2 folders for source code (java, asl), and configures the classpath to locate the jason.jar file; if given, the environment class is also created; an example agent (src/asl/sample.asl) is created; finally, the plugin creates the .mas2j file.
  • Creating new Agent:
  1. Choose menu option "File -> New -> Other…";
  2. Select the Agent wizard in the Jason Plugin folder;
  3. Input the agent name, keeping the .asl extension. You can also change the place where the agent file will be created, but by convention it should be kept in the src/asl folder;
  4. Press Finish.
  • Creating a new Environment:
  1. Choose menu option "File -> New -> Other…";
  2. Select the Environment wizard in the Jason Plugin folder;
  3. Input the path to the source folder1 or select clicking in Browse button (if it's still blank);
  4. Input the name of the package where the Environment class is to be generated (if it is still blank);
  5. Input the name of the Environment class;
  6. Press Finish.
  • Creating a new Internal Action:
  1. Choose menu option "File -> New -> Other…";
  2. Select the Internal Action wizard in the Jason Plugin folder;
  3. Input the path to the source folder1 or select clicking in Browse button (if it's still blank);
  4. Input the name of the package where the Internal Action class is to be generated (if it is still blank);
  5. Input the name of the Internal Action class;
  6. Press Finish.
  • Creating a new Log Configuration:
  1. Choose menu option "File -> New -> Other…";
  2. Select the Log Configuration wizard in the Jason Plugin folder;
  3. Input the project name ou select clicking in Browse button (if it's still blank);
  4. Press Finish.
  • Running a Jason project:
  1. Choose menu option "Run -> Run Dialog…";
  2. Choose the Run configuration that was created by the Plugin for the Jason Project that you want to execute;
  3. To run the project again, just go to menu option "Run -> Run History -> YourRunConfigName" or press CTRL + F11.
  • Debugging a Jason project:
  1. Choose menu option "Run -> Debug Dialog…";
  2. Choose the Debug configuration that was created by the Plugin for the Jason Project that you want to execute;
  3. To debug the project again, just go to menu option "Run -> Debug History -> YourDebugConfigName" or press F11.

1: The default Source Folder of a Jason project always will be: projectName/src/java
